Lovecraft’s Cosmicism and Occult Realities

Kindle eBook

This short essay explores the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the philosophical implications of his narrative, and how it has influenced various occult groups. Lovecraft created a quite distinct genre and universe which he referred to as “cosmic horror” or “cosmicism.” In this, humanity is utterly irrelevant in the context of cosmic forces. It is no surprise, therefore, that a number of occultists have adopted and adapted Lovecraft’s works, combining ideas from Aleister Crowley, Satanic Orders, Chaos Magic, Kenneth Grant, and other magicians on the “shadow side” of occultism into new workings.
